The South Beach Symposium (SBS) provides comprehensive education for practicing medical professionals to stay informed on the newest therapies, technologies, procedures and practice guidelines in medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine. The South Beach Symposium was founded in 2002 as an annual clinical and aesthetic dermatology conference held in Miami Beach, Florida. In 2015, the SBS launched its online educational resource center offering busy practitioners the opportunity to earn dermatology and aesthetic medicine continuing education online. SBS continues to expand its educational offerings with various educational conferences held throughout the year across the country in addition to the annual conference held in Miami Beach.
SBS prides itself on consistently providing innovative methods of education through highly interactive formats including live demonstrations and interactive panel and roundtable discussions with world-renowned faculty. For almost two decades the SBS has served as the benchmark for other educational conferences offering attendees the opportunity to learn transferrable skills, real-time pearls, and best-practice techniques that can easily be adapted to their current practice environment.
The South Beach Symposium is produced by Tarsus®. The acquisition of the SBS in November of 2014 expanded Tarsus' medical division, Tarsus Medical Group, to include live and online medical education offerings for the dermatology and aesthetic medicine community. Mark S. Nestor, MD, PhD

Mark S. Nestor, MD, PhD is the Director of the Center for Cosmetic Enhancement and the Center for Clinical and Cosmetic Research in Aventura, Florida and a Voluntary Associate Professor of the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami, Leonard Miller School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Nestor is Co-Chairman of Advanced Dermatology Management, a physician practice management company, and a managing partner of Skin and Cancer Associates a group practice of 52 Dermatologists and 38 offices throughout Florida. Dr. Nestor is a past President of the American Society for Photodynamic Therapy, the International Society for Cosmetic and Laser Surgeons, and Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Nestor received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from The State University of New York, his PhD in Experimental Pathology and Immunology from UCLA and his MD from UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his Internship in Internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center and West Los Angeles V.A. Medical center. He completed his Residency in Dermatology at New York University.
Dr. Nestor is recognized as a world expert in cutaneous laser surgery, photodynamic therapy as well as the use of fillers and toxins in aesthetic medicine and conducts FDA and Non FDA clinical trials on pharmaceuticals and devices used in clinical and aesthetic dermatology. He also serves as a consultant to numerous pharmaceutical and device companies assisting them in the development of new medications, devices and Cosmeceuticals.
Dr. Nestor also has authored over 65 articles and book chapters and has delivered over 600 major presentations around the world. Dr. Nestor has also directed over 50 meetings and symposia on various topics in the field of cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery and practice management.

Dr. Michael H. Gold is the founder and medical director of Gold Skin Care Center, Advanced Aesthetics Medical Spa, The Laser & Rejuvenation Center, and Tennessee Clinical Research Center in Nashville, TN. He is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon and oversees the various facets of the center's operations — a combination of medical and surgical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, aesthetic services and research endeavors, which began in 1990.
Dr. Gold has earned worldwide recognition for providing patients with leading-edge technological advances in dermatology and aesthetic skin care. He plays an integral role in the development of new pharmaceutical products and medical devices through his clinical research. He presents the results regularly at national and international dermatology and cosmetic meetings.
Dr. Gold has authored over 300 published scientific articles, 35 textbook chapters, and has edited two textbooks on Photodynamic Therapy. He serves on most major dermatology journal boards and is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. In addition, Dr. Gold helped establish the Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (TSLMS), a group of health care providers interested in the distribution of information and proper training for those in the cosmetic arena. The TSLMS puts on an annual meeting known as SCALE, or Symposium for Cosmetic Advances & Laser Education. It is one of the leading U.S. dermatologic and aesthetic meetings.
Dr. Gold also helped start two international groups: the Dermatologic Aesthetic Surgery International League (DASIL), which aims to create a global community for the open exchange of knowledge and innovation by physicians specializing in Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery. It has become one of the most prominent and important international dermatology groups. It showcases meetings all over the world; and 5-Continent-Congress (5CC), is one of the world’s leading conferences on Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery, where he is the current President of the Congress.

Dr. Goldberg earned his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his dermatology residency and dermatologic surgical fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He has served as President as well as Chairman of both the Ethics and International Committees of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Dr. Goldberg was the first ever recipient of the ASLMS Leon Goldman award named after the founder of laser medicine. He is past Chair of the Ethics Committee of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. He has also been a member of the board of directors of both ASDS and ISDS. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Goldberg is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Director of Laser Research of NY's Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is also Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Chief of Dermatologic Surgery at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School He has published over 125 peer-reviewed manuscripts and is author of books on Laser Hair Removal; Ablative and Non-ablative Skin Rejuvenation; Photodamaged Skin, Complications in Cutaneous Laser Surgery, and most recently Dermal Fillers in Dermatology . Dr. Goldberg has performed pivotal research studies in the areas of laser hair removal, non-ablative skin treatments, dermal fillers and new botulinum toxins. He is on the editorial boards of the Lasers in Surgery and Medicine and Dermatologic Surgery. He is current Senior Chief-Editor of the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy. Finally, Dr. Goldberg is an attorney having graduated from NY's Fordham University School of Law where he currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law and teaches a course entitled "Advances in Health Care Law."

Dr. Kircik is a Board Certified Dermatologist who graduated with AOA Honors from State University of New York at the Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn after completing his undergraduate work with Phi Beta Kappa at New York University. He completed a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship under the auspices of Dr. Frederick Mohs at the University of Wisconsin after completing his dermatology residency at State University of New York in Buffalo.
He currently teaches as Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN, as well as at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Kircik is also the Medical Director of DermResearch, PLLC and Physicians Skin Care, PLLC in Louisville, Kentucky. He has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical trials for psoriasis, acne, rosacea, atopic dermatitis, skin cancers, and actinic keratosis, just to name a few.
Dr. Kircik is an author of many scientific articles, abstracts and posters. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally on all aspects of dermatologic conditions. In addition, he also serves on the advisory boards of several pharmaceutical companies as a consultant. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Practical Dermatology, The Journal of Clinical & Aesthetic Dermatology, and Case Report in Clinical Pathology. He volunteers for multiple local and national medical society committees.

Z. Paul Lorenc, MD, FACS (pronounced "Lawrence") is a world-renowned board certified aesthetic plastic surgeon who balances surgical expertise with an acute aesthetic sense of composition and proportion in the areas of facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement and body contouring.

As the sole aesthetic plastic surgeon involved, Dr. Lorenc headed the largest clinical trial site and tracked the safety and efficacy of Restylane® in a double blind study of more than 100 patients over a twelve-month period. Subsequently, he was selected to lead the team of experts who presented the resulting data on Restylane® to the FDA Advisory Panel, leading to confirmation for its use in the United States in December 2003.

Schachner, MD, is at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Chair Emeritus and Stiefel Laboratories, Professor of the Department of Dermatology, Professor of Pediatrics, and Co-Director of the Division of Pediatric Dermatology. Dr. Schachner has written over 200 scientific publications and is best known as the lead author of the textbook Pediatric Dermatology. In 2004, Dr. Schachner was named "Practitioner of the Year" by the Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. The nearly 800 dermatologists in the state lauded him for his longtime commitment to pediatric dermatology. He is past president of the American Society for Pediatric Dermatology and has been cited in numerous periodicals of best doctors, including The Best Doctors in America 1992 to present, Who's Who in America, and the Guide to Top Doctors.
